I Love Books!
I needed to shout that. Now I feel better. I love reading books as much as I love writing them. And I love them so much, I don’t stick to just one genre. I mostly read what I write which is clean children’s, middle grade, Young Adult and nonfiction. Within those genres–yep, you guessed it–I write many different sub-genres. My imagination is simply too large to contain!
I have been writing in some form since I was about four years old. If I wasn’t writing, I was imagining stories in my head. In high school I wrote really bad poetry. But I didn’t really start writing long stories until after I had a dream which continued for two nights in a row. It didn’t repeat. It continued. Like a book. The following day, I sat down to write the story out and before I knew it, I had written forty pages before getting up again. I haven’t stopped writing since.
Where do I get my book ideas? Sometimes from dreams, sometimes from real life (which often truly is stranger than fiction), and other times they just suddenly pop into my head.
When I am not drooling over books, I am a genetic genealogist where I write stories of a different kind–the family story. You can find me working as a family detective at www.emmasfamilytreasures.com
The rest of my time is spent with my two sons here in the state of Washington.
